Order Tests To Determine Death Cause
A series of medical tests have been ordered in an attempt to determine the cause of death of Gregory D. Martin, 22, of 1109 Harvey, whose body was found shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday on a couch in his home where he apparently lived along.
Dr. James McMeel deputy county coroner said Martin is believed to have died as a result of an accidental drug overdose. McMeel added that he expected to make a final ruling after the tests were completed.
Police said Martin had apparently been dead for several hours when he was found by a friend.
Martin was an apprentice electrician for the L.K. Comstock Co., Bridgman. Born on May 15, 1953 in South Bend he was a 1971 graduate of LaSalle High School.
Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oscar J. Martin of South Bend; two brothers Gary L. of South Bend and Dennis D. of Billings, Mont., and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence H. Seuss of South Bend.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 335 N. Main. Orville Baker of the Jehovah's Witness Roseland Congregation will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Martin was a member of Local 153 Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Death Ruled Accidental
A ruling of accidental drug overdose was made in the Nov. 5 death of Gregory D. Martin, 22, of 1109 Harvey by Dr. James McMeel, deputy county corner. Martin's body was found by a friend shortly before 10 p.m. Nov. 5 on a couch in his home where he apparently lived alone.
