Pamela Ann McMorris (Harris)

Pamela Ann Harris

June 28, 1953 ~ September 27, 2024 (age 71)

Pamela A. Harris, affectionately known as Pam, was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength to all who knew her. Born on June 28, 1953, in South Bend, IN, Pam's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, her dedication to service, and her boundless love for her family. On September 27, 2024, in Maywood, IL, Pam's earthly chapter closed, but her legacy continues to inspire and uplift.

Pam's life was a testament to the power of education and the impact one individual can have on their community. She earned her bachelor’s in business administration from Indiana University, a foundation that would underpin her commitment to excellence and service. Her career at Real Services was just one example of her profound influence on those around her. For many years, Pam served in an administrative role at her church, where she was instrumental in organizing international events and supporting church leaders in their mission to serve others.

Her passion for empowering young women and children shone brightly as she guided them in their relationship with Jesus. Pam's encouragement was a gift she freely gave, never missing an opportunity to uplift and support others in their personal growth and spiritual journeys. Her work was not just a job; it was a calling that she embraced with every fiber of her being.

Family was the cornerstone of Pam's life. She was a loving daughter to her parents, William Howard McMorris and Allene (Bailey) McMorris, who preceded her in death. The bond Pam shared with her daughter, Carmen, and son-in-law, Herschell Williams III, was unbreakable, and the light of her life was her grandchildren, Zion Joy Williams and Jonathan Isaiah Williams. Each moment spent with them was cherished and filled with laughter, love, and the wisdom she so generously imparted. Her sister, Luann (James) Bridges, shared in the joys and sorrows of life alongside Pam, while her other sister, Patricia "Pat" Bailey, awaited her in the next chapter beyond this life passing away earlier this year.

Pam's involvement with the Freedom Life Church in Benton Harbor, MI, was not just a membership but a commitment to living out her faith in tangible ways. She believed in the transformative power of community and the importance of nurturing the spirit through fellowship and collective worship.

Her interests extended beyond the walls of the church and into the hearts of her family and friends. Pam was most passionate about the time she spent with her daughter, grandchildren, and her extended family sharing soul food, going bowling, and playing UNO. These moments were not merely gatherings but opportunities to create memories that would last a lifetime and beyond.

Funeral services for Pam will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams St. South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the church. Graveside services and burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend.
