James Curtis Vandermark

April 4, 1952 ~ January 16, 2025

James “Jim” Curtis Vandermark, 72, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Care—Esther’s House in Elkhart, Indiana. He was born on April 4, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana to Charles and Phyllis (Rupp) Vandermark.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Vandermark Jr.; and both sisters, Nancy (Sheldon) Vandermark and Lenora (Warren) Vandermark. Surviving are two children, Curtis James Vandermark of Tulare, CA, and Amanda Sue, married to his son-in-love, Tim Fritz, of Yerington NV; grandchildren, Ayden and Tysen Fritz; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim loved his Lord God, his family, his brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Jim spent most of his life in ministry, starting as a camp counselor in his teens and ending with filling pulpits every chance he got. He also enjoyed photography, basketball (he was a referee for several years in California and Ohio), and having a conversation with anyone, anytime, about anything. He enjoyed learning as much as he could and managed to earn his doctorate from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Jim was cremated at Elkhart Cremation Services and will be traveling with his family to Nevada soon. No memorial service is planned.
