Barbara J. Vogt
October 10, 1948 ~ December 11, 2024 76 Years Old
Barbara J. (Bennett) Vogt, 76, of South Bend went home to the Lord on Wednesday December 11, 2024, at her home.
Barbara was born on October 10, 1948, in Anderson, IN to the late Arnold and Helen (Kalch) Bennett.
Barbara worked for the South Bend Community School Corp. for many years as a Para, assisting disabled children.
Barbara met and married the love of her life, John Vogt, on October 25, 1969, in Tempe, AZ, sharing 47 years of marriage before his passing in 2017.
Barbara was the kindest, most generous, and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was everyone’s “Mother” and would do anything for anyone. She truly had a heart of gold. She loved birds, especially cardinals. She loved lighthouses and all things Christmas- especially the lights. Barbara had a great sense of humor and could light up the room. She will be missed by everyone, as she truly was a wonderful person.
Barbara is survived by her children; Kara Vogt, Krista (Dillon) Gonderman, Alexis Vogt, and John Vogt as well as 6 grandchildren and her siblings; Linda Eckenberger and Larry (Jane) Bennett.
A Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held at 2pm on Sunday December 15, 2024, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 1pm until the start of the service. Barbara will be laid to rest at a later date next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116.
