Timothy B. Dixon

January 20, 1959 ~ May 19, 2024 (age 65)

Timothy B. Dixon was born on January 20, 1959, in South Bend, IN. Tim's journey through life was one marked by passion, intelligence, and an unwavering love for those around him. On May 19, 2024, at the age of 65, Tim passed away peacefully in Niles, MI, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.

Tim's early life in South Bend was filled with the warmth of a loving family. He was the cherished son of the late William and Lorene Dixon and a beloved brother to Larry, Joslyn, Rhonda, and Anthony. Tim leaves behind four nieces, Monique, Akilah (Sidney), Porsha, and Alexandria, two nephews, Anthony II, and Linden, and a host of additional family members, and friends. The strong family bonds he forged in his youth were a testament to the deep connections he would continue to cultivate throughout his life.

Education was a journey of empowerment for Tim. He pursued his passion for helping others at Ivy Tech Community College, where he earned his certificate in surgical technology. This accomplishment was not just a personal milestone but a steppingstone to a career that would touch countless lives. For 34 years, Tim served with distinction at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, where his skilled hands and compassionate heart made a profound difference. His retirement was a celebration of a career marked by unwavering dedication to the well-being of others. In a 2015 statement, Tim reflected that his "position as a surgical technician" at the hospital "placed me in a position to work with excellent, talented people."

Beyond the operating room, Tim's spirit soared. He was an avid reader, a self-educated man whose thirst for knowledge was matched only by his spiritual depth. Tim's father was a World War II army veteran, his brothers were Navy and Air Force veterans, and Tim honored the family tradition with his service in the United States Navy.

His garden was a place of solace and joy, where he nurtured life in the soil as tenderly as he did in the hospital. Family gatherings were brighter with his presence, his laughter a melody that harmonized with the symphony of shared stories and cherished memories.

To describe Tim as merely intelligent and passionate would be an understatement. He was a man who lived with purpose, who saw everyday as an opportunity to learn, to love, and to leave a positive impact on the world. His calm nature was a source of strength for those in turmoil, his compassionate approach, a comfort to the weary.

In keeping with Tim’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a future private family service is planned.

Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
