William D. "Bill" Myers, 62, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was born on December 30, 1958 in South Bend to William and Katherine (Hughes) Myers. He had been employed for the last 15 years in the Maintenance Department at Holy Cross Grade School. Bill had also been employed in the Radiology Department at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. On April 6, 1993 in Orlando, Florida, he married Patricia A. Johnson, who survives. Bill is also survived by two sons, David (Mara Baim) Myers and Will Myers both of South Bend, Indiana; three grandchildren, Naomi Myers, Madison Myers and Gaby; one sister, Jackie Wilson of Nebraska; two half-sisters, Judy (Russ) Annis of Columbus, Ohio and Nancy Weiss of North Liberty, Indiana: one half-brother, Ben (Joyce) Bendit of South Bend, Indiana; his Goddaughter, Khambri Watkins; his Godmother, Bernadette Dolezal; his Godfather, Kevin Gibley; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Bob Valentine. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his half-brother, Jerry Bendit; and his sister, Kathy Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 in Holy Cross Church, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Bill was a 1977 graduate of LaSalle High School. He obtained an Associate's Degree from Michiana College and a Certificate from Foley Belsaw Institute of Locksmithing. He was also a Certified Tax Preparer. Bill was a kind, gentle and caring husband and father. Many times, he was helping others before himself. Bill had a very special talent at fixing things. He also had a great love of music. He loved all animals, especially bats. Bill understood the beauty and mystique and environmental benefits of bats. He was a member of the Bat Conservation, ABATE of Indiana, Potawatomi Zoo and AOPA. Bill had a unique sense of humor and loved anything to do with aviation. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses on the ICU Unit of Memorial Hospital for their loving care of Bill.
