Gerald D. "Jerry" Perkins Jan. 9, 1950 - Jan. 3, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Jerry Perkins, 64, of South Bend, passed away in the loving arms of his family and friends at 3:57 am Saturday (Jan. 3rd) at St. Joseph Medical Center. Jerry was born January 9, 1950, to the late Clyde and Georgia Perkins.

Preceding him in death were brothers, Richard (Tom) Perkins and James (Jimmy) Perkins; sisters-in-law, Nadean (Don) Perkins and Chris (Tom) Perkins; and niece, Patricia (Paul) Morgan.

Jerry resided most of his life in South Bend and was a 1968 graduate of LaSalle High School. He loved working with his hands and worked most of his life in construction. He was a master mechanic and worked for a short time for the South Bend Community School Corp. Jerry loved the outdoors and was always up for a campout. He was involved in Boy Scouts from childhood through adulthood. Helping others was always a priority for Jerry. He loved going to A.A Fellowship House and sharing his trials and tribulations in hopes of helping others. He was a stout supporter of the 2nd Amendment and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid fan of NASCAR & loved racing in general. Jerry was passionate about God and his family.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Paula Perkins of South Bend, IN; his children, Robert Perkins (wife Martha) of Indianapolis, IN, Sandra Perkins of Glen Cove, NY, and Maggie Bueno (husband USMC SSGT Richard Bueno) of South Bend, IN; his four grandchildren, James Curti of Queens, NY, and Richard Jr., Jakob and Ava Bueno of South Bend, IN; his siblings, Orvin Perkins (wife Judy) of White Pigeon, MI, Don Perkins of Astatula, FL, and Mark Perkins (wife Shari) of South Bend, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation and The South Bend Hope Rescue Mission may be made in his name. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
