Ruth A. Groshans, passed away on April 16, 2025, in her hometown of South Bend, where she was also born on July 7, 1950, to the late Edward and Delores (Wiesner) Szymkowiak.

Ruth's journey began at LaSalle High School, where she graduated before embarking on a fulfilling career. She dedicated 20 years of her life to the accounts department at Kreamo Bakery, where her warm personality made her a beloved colleague. Ruth later joined Meijers, where she continued to demonstrate her leadership skills and commitment to teamwork as a team leader for 15 years.

In August 1977, Ruth was married Brian Groshans, who sadly passed away in 1993. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Shannon Groshans, who remains in South Bend. Ruth's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she is survived by her sisters, Gail Szymkowiak and Victoria (Michael) VanDusen; her brother, James (Melonie) Szymkowiak; niece Lisa (Andrew) Holloway, nephew Ken (Tammy) VanDusen, niece Jeanne Van Dusen and niece Lisa (Andrew) Holloway and was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Szymkowiak.

Ruth was a former member of St. Monica Catholic Church. She was also an avid sports enthusiast, Ruth's passion for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Chicago Bears was unmatched.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
