Bryan Lee Biscar, 25, of 4300  Hickory Road, Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend, died at 2:15 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered shortly before 1 a.m. in a two-car accident in the 1700 block of Portage.

Dr. Michael O’Connell, deputy county coroner, said Biscar died as a result of hemorrhaging from a laceration in a large blood vessel in the chest.

Bruce Chambers, 26, 2029 Berkley, the driver of the second car involved, was treated at Memorial for arm and head pain.

Police said Biscar was southbound on Portage when his car sideswiped the northbound Chamber’s vehicle. Biscar then lost control, police said, crossing the center line and striking a tree sideways at Portage and Kessler.

Biscar was to begin teaching at St. Adalbert’s School this fall. Born on Sept. 12, 1954, in South Bend, he had lived in the area all his life.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Biscar of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Adalbert’s  Catholic Church, Rev. Eugene Kazmierczak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Biscar held bachelor’s  and master’s degrees from Ball State University and was a LaSalle High School graduate.
