Neil H. Miller, 53, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in his home. A life-long South Bend native, Neil was born on October 30, 1970, to Forrest “Woody” Miller and Judith (Towner) Miller. Neil married Leslie Sorocco, the love of his life, on December 2, 2006, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. As Vice President, Commercial Banking at 1st Source Bank, Neil helped entrepreneurs and companies of all sizes obtain the needed financial resources to succeed. Neil is also survived by his beloved children Garrett Miller and Mackenzie Miller; his mother, Judith Miller; one sister, Gayle (Ronald) Bell; three brothers, Vincent Miller, David (Susan) Miller, and Matthew (Jenelle) Miller; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Sam) Russell, James (Alyssa) Meyer, Jessica Johnson, Travis Miller, Chelsea (Tyler) Yeoman, Nathan Miller, Sheila Snyder, Joshua Bell, Katie (Jared) Vargas-Bell, Spencer (Kaylee) Miller, and Heather Miller; his brother-in-law, James Meyer; his mother and father-in-law, Mary Ann and Joseph Sorocco; and his brother-in-law, Douglas (Kristen) Sorocco and their children, Karl and Sophia. Neil was preceded in death by his father, Forrest “Woody” Miller; his sister, Joyce Meyer; and his brother-in-law, Rick Snyder. 

Neil was a 1989 graduate of LaSalle High School and a 1993 graduate of Marian University. Neil’s life was marked by curiosity, discovery, and nurturing trusted relationships. Whether he was leading his family to out-of-the-way diners, dives, and drive-ins or sharing unique dishes at social gatherings, Neil's adventures with food were unending. Regardless of the destination, Neil always found unusual activities and experiences that created lasting memories, encouraging his children to tackle challenging endeavors. His talent for building trust with colleagues, customers, and the numerous kids he coached at Chet Waggoner Little League, exemplified his commitment to being present in the moment and helping willingly. For the children he coached, they know Neil was a trusted adult who truly cared about their success and was proud of each of them. Leslie, Garrett, and Mackenzie were always Neil’s top priority, and his pride in their accomplishments underscores the enduring value of his unyielding dedication and love for his family. Neil’s life vividly illustrates that a fulfilling life is rooted in actively engaging with others, building and maintaining trusted relationships, and above all, having an unwavering commitment to family and those for whom he agreed to serve.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Ballard officiating. Private burial will take place in Southlawn Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2024, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.
