Mr. Darnell Nelson, 42 Of South Bend, affectionately known as "Spanky" transitioned from this life on Sunday July 13, 2024. Darnell brought a vibrant energy and joy to everyone who crossed his path. His captivating spirit, sprinkled with a dash of humor and an abundance of love, made him a cherished companion to many. Darnell was a man of courage, standing tall against life's adversities and dancing to the beat of his own drum, unapologetically living his truth. As it has been said, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain." Darnell not only learned how to dance in the rain but did so with a contagious enthusiasm that inspired those around him. Darnell was a man of many passions. He was a true believer of Christ, and he loved attending church. He was a creative soul who had a keen eye for fashion and a love for photography, capturing life's beautiful moments through his lens. He loved the rush of a good workout and the simple pleasures of enjoying good food, He Was a was a super fan of the legendary girl group "TLC," their music often serving as the soundtrack of his life. He was funny, always ready to play a joke on family members and friends just so he could lighten the mood. Darnell was loving and generous, always there for his family and friends, which were the cornerstones of his life. He lived his life with a sense of bold confidence that was infectious, caring less about what others thought of him and more about spreading love and positivity.

Darnell is survived by his beloved mother, Doris Smith; his sister, Ardelia Mincey of Flint Mi; two brothers, Walter Smith IV and Andrew (Wife Ashley) Smith; Both of South Bend Indiana, nephew's; Corey (Jazmine)Odynski Jr.; Walter Smith V, and Andrew Smith Jr. , Nieces; DeJanae Kelley, Deasia Kelley, An'Yah Peak, Aniyah Smith, Analisia Smith, and Amari Smith; great nephew's; Corvon Odynski, Cori'eon Odynski; great niece, Londyn Odynski. Special daughter, Ahmari'ella Renee Brionez; Special friends, Michael Stewart and best friend and sister of 34 years, Victoria Lloyd. Favorite Auntie's, Camille Galloway, Dorthy Sartin, and Carolyn Brown.

 In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Darnell Nelson left a remarkable imprint in the hearts of those he encountered, and his spirit will continue to live on through the memories we shared.
