DeWayne Freeze

DeWayne Freeze, 33, of. South Bend, formerly of LaPorte, Ind., passed away after a battle with cancer at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Memorial Hospital, He was born on Jan. 9, 1969, to Darwin Jay and Taffy C. (Marcellia) Freeze in Mishawaka, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Freeze was employed as a bartender at Bowlers Country Club and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9820, both in South Bend. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Ann Freeze; and by a brother, Richard Dale Freeze.
He is survived by his fiancée, Julie Fleming of LaPorte; his parents, Darwin Jay and Taffy C. (Marcellia) Freeze of South Bend; and by a brother, James A. Freeze of South Bend.
Mr. Freeze was a member of Bowlers Country Club, was a graduate of LaSalle High School, and was involved with the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9820 Boy Scout Troop while he was growing up. De Wayne enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The DeWayne Freeze Memorial Fund, c/o Key Bank, 2806 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628
