SOUTH BEND - James Edward Day Sr., 57 of West Jefferson St., expired Monday, August 17, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. Day was born November 3, 1951, in Drew, MS, to Herman Sr. and Georgia Day.

The family moved to South Bend, IN in 1955. James attended Harrison School and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1970, where he played football, and was state wrestling champ. Later he was employed at Clark's Equipment and worked at Sibley Foundry. On July 7, 1991,

James married Pearlie Mae Henry. James leaves to mourn his passing, yet cherish his memory: his wife, Pearl Day; a son, James Edward Day, Jr.; 19 grand children; 18 great-grand children; two sisters, Edna (Curry) Thorpe of South Bend, IN, and Irene Davis of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Herman Day Jr. of South Bend, Hosie (Fransie) Day of Ruerville, MS, and Johnny (Rosie) Day of St. Louis, Missouri; five stepchildren, Peter Henry, Arzenia (Micheal) Stanley of Atlanta, GA, Lavada (Raymond) Chatman, Luvenia Corley, and Lanatia (Tyrone) Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by both parents, and two sisters, Lorraine Day Washington and Hilda Harris, and one brother, Frank Day.

Services for Mr. James Edward day will be Monday, August 24, 2009, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN. Visitation 11:00 a.m., Funeral service noon. Burial will follow funeral service at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
