Jane Ellen Smith

Former South Bend resident Jane Ellen (Johnson) Smith, 61, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Life Care Center, LaGrange following a lengthy illness.
Jane was born March 26, 1950 in South Bend to Evelyn A. (Stafford) and the late Harold E. Johnson and had lived in South Bend all of her life before moving to LaGrange in October of 2010.
She is survived by her son, Michael E. Smith of Mishawaka, IN; her grandson Christopher Davis of Bremen, IN; her mother, Evelyn A. Johnson of South Bend; and her brother, Gregory E. Johnson (Lynn) of Howe, IN.
Jane was a 1969 graduate of the former LaSalle High School. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. Other interests included gardening, playing music on her organ, and listening to a variety of different music venues.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 10th in the chapel of Highland Cemetery with Rev. Don Neely officiating. Burial will follow. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N.
