1969 Classmate James Swoape has passed away. Another Lion lost way to soon. Rest in peace Jim.

James Alexander Swoape age 70 peacefully transcended on June 25, 2021. Born in South Bend, IN on January 27, 1951. He graduated class of 69 from Lasalle High School. He was preceded in death by his parents Darwin (Bud) and Marie Wilton. He is survived by his wife, Dian Swoape; the mother of his children Lisa Swoape; Son Mason Swoape (Syndi); Daughters Myra Villella (John); and Rachel Swoape (Caleb Hamilton); his Brothers Michael Wilton; Greg Wilton (Jennifer); Sister Rebekah Wilton- McCloskey (John); and 6 grandchildren. Jim the Bead Man as he was known, was a frequent vendor at various flea markets, Rendezvous, and events across the country including the South Bend farmers market and Friendship. He was a "barefoot rebel, who was always on the road again, going the distance, and having the courage to embrace his dreams." He taught those he met that not all who wander are lost.

A open celebration of life will be held at 9882 w Freeland Ln (previously 7625 S Breeden Rd) Bloomington IN July 31, 2021 at 5pm, followed by a pitch-in meal.
