Gregory Wilson

September 28, 1956 ~ July 6, 2020 (age 63)

Gregory Wilson, 63, of South Bend, IN, was born in Chicago, IL to the union of Farrell T. and Rose (Carothers) Wilson. Gregory attended South Bend Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1975 from LaSalle High School. Gregory was best known for his role in winning the State Championship for track, in the 4x100 relay for LaSalle High School. Greg went on to continue his education at the University of Southern Indiana and later attended Ivy Tech Community College of South Bend, IN, where he received his certificate in Machinery Trade. Gregory then went on to work for AM General, retiring early to pursue his own lawn care service, which he ran for over 25 years. He also had a passion for finding and fixing bikes to later sell them to the neighborhood kids and family, all of whom has a scar or story to share, I’m sure.

Gregory was a man of many talents, but took the most pride in being an active father. Gregory became the father to his first-born son, Gregory Allen, who melted his heart from day one and who he could not be any prouder of. In 1992, Gregory met Crystal, who would later become his wife. He proudly took on the role of a father to her two daughters, Jasmine and D’Anndra, whom he loved and raised as his own. In 1995, Gregory and Crystal went on to have Gregory’s last child, Cameron Gregory, to complete his blended family. Gregory’s heart was melted one again over his last born, whom he also loved very much and couldn’t be prouder of. In 1998, Gregory and Crystal united in holy matrimony. Gregory instilled his undying love of sports into all of his children, leading to all four children playing baseball and softball, with Gregory never missing a game.

If you know Greg, then you know his family, classic cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and last but not least, money, is what kept him smiling. Greg also enjoyed his weekend conversations with his brother, Farrell.

Gregory leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Crystal Wilson; children: Gregory A. (Brittany) Wilson, Cameron Gregory Wilson, Jasmine Lewis and D’Anndra Lewis; along with four grandchildren: Addison, Olivia and Quinn Wilson and De’Aubrey Lee; siblings Charon Wilson of Indianapolis, IN and Farrell T. (Deborah) Wilson of South Bend, IN; uncles Nathaniel, Alfred, Shirley "Chuck" and Ashley Carothers; along with a host of family and friends.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Farrell T. Sr. and Rose (Carothers) Wilson; and a special cousin, whom he loved dearly, William “Bill” Carothers.

Services for Mr. Gregory Wilson will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Pastor André A. McGhee to officiate.
