She was born to the union of Joe Sutherland and Geneva B. on March 5, 1962 in Slaughter, Mississippi. The family later relocated to South Bend, IN. Mother Geneva made certain all her children had a strong Christian foundation, Ernestine was no exception. Her love for Christ began at Second Baptist Church and her faith remained until the end. Ernestine graduated in the LaSalle High School Class of 1980, she continued her studies at IUSB receiving her bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She married Willie J. Taylor Sr. in the Summer of 1984 at her parent's house and from that union came three beautiful children : Willie Taylor Jr, Cleora Taylor and Carl Taylor. and 1 beautiful stepdaughter Angela Taylor. A mother's love is one of a kind, that can't be replaced. Ernestine had a unique bond with a special place in her heart for each of her children. Our matriarch loved to spend time with family throwing family gatherings at her house with food for days. Her love poured over into her grandchildren daily. She loved to watch CNN news keeping up on current events. Sometimes the TV was watching her, but would wake up the moment someone tried to change the channel. She loved buying nice things and shopping for herself. Her personality was bold, her style refreshing, and her love was endless. Mama was the queen of zebra, cheetah and leopard prints and she wore them well. It's those little things that mean so much and the smile she gave brighten the whole room.
