Warren O'Neal

Warren C. O'Neal Jr.

Oct. 11, 1967 - Dec. 23, 2015

SOUTH BEND - Warren Calvin O'Neal Jr. made his journey from labor to reward on Thursday, December 23, 2015, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Warren was born on October 11, 1967, in South Bend, the eldest child of Warren Calvin O'Neal Sr. and Viola O'Neal.

He was educated in the South Bend Community School Corporation, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1986. One high school experience that he cherished was playing football under Coach Eddie Faulkens for four years.

Warren began his career with Waste Management right after high school, working there for 26 years and progressing to a Supervisor of the Solid Waste Department for the City of South Bend.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Calvin O'Neal Sr. and Viola (Birdie) O'Neal. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mandie, and this three children: Sara, Warren (Tre) III and Ambir O'Neal, all of South Bend; his sister, Tonette Bertina O'Neal of Nashville, TN; and brother, Brian Alexander (Lisa) O'Neal of Indianapolis, IN; aunts: Velma Harris and Audrey Williams of South Bend, Bettye Birdie and Beatrice King of Natchez, MS, and Ernestine (Phillip) Mosby of Jackson, MS; uncle, William O'Neal of Natchez, MS; great-uncle, Clifton Reed of Racine, WI; and a host of other relatives and many, many true friends.

All who knew this wonderful man, affectionately known as “Bope,” admired the fact that he was just himself - genuine, kind and without fanfare. Warren could ALWAYS be counted on to be there for all of us when we needed him. We thought of him as our gentle giant. He was greatly loved and will truly, truly, be missed.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Foundations, 501 Comfort Place, South Bend, IN 46545.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, December 28th, at 11:00 AM, at the River of Life Church, 530 East Ireland Road, South Bend, with Pastor Fred Brown officiating.

The HANLEY & Sons Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the O'Neal family.
