SOUTH BEND - Ms. Katherine Coalmon, 53, who resided on Notre Dame Avenue, Indiana, passed away at 3:09 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Regency Place of South Bend, Indiana. Katherine was born to Sylvester and Tressia (Thornton) Coalmon on July 18, 1957, in South Bend, IN, who both preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of LaSalle High School in 1974. She was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving her country for 10 years. While stationed in Germany she served as a photographer. She attended Bethel College two years, majoring in Education. She was a member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Tressia Coalmon, and three brothers, Huey, Richard and Walter Coalmon.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her four brothers, John (and his wife, Betty) Coalmon and James Coalmon, both of New York, Sylvester Coalmon of South Bend and Perry Coalmon of Nicaragua; three sisters, Laverne Coalmon and Irene King, both of South Bend, Karen Stewart and Carol Stewart, both of Chicago, IL; along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
