Johnnie King Duke Jr.

SOUTH BEND - On Monday, July 14, 2008, at 10:05 a.m., Johnnie King Duke Jr. departed from this life at Memorial Hospital at the age of 43. He had resided on East Broadway Street, South Bend. In South Bend, Johnnie was born to Irene Duke Neely and Robert Joseph Reynolds on May 28, 1965.

Johnnie graduated from LaSalle High School in 1983. For 20-plus years, he was a self-employed disc jockey and for 10 years, he worked as a car detailer. His hobbies included playing poker and pool. He was a champion pool player and was a top shooter for the NAPL League.

Johnnie's family was everything to him and that's what he lived for. Johnnie and Ella Louise Newton were married on May 28. 1988. Mr. Duke is survived by his devoted family members who include his wife, Ella; one daughter, Octavia Duke of South Bend; two sons, Johnathon King Duke of Bloomington, IN and Brandon D. Duke of South Bend; his mother, Irena Duke of South Bend; three sisters, Candy (Robert) Evans, Beverly (Thomas Brown) Duke and Ashley Reynolds; four brothers, Robert (Judy) Duke, Adrain Reynolds, Aaron Reynolds and Joe (Shelly) Rodriquez, all of South Bend; his favorite twin cousin, Pam Neely of Gary, IN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Reynolds; and a sister, Regina Knights.

Funeral services for Mr. Duke will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Messages of condolences may be e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net.
