SOUTH BEND - R. Ryan Folk, 32, residing in South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, November 28, 2010, in Mishawaka. Ryan was born October 29, 1978, in South Bend, to Robert C. and Rebecca (Huber) Folk, who survive.

He attended LaSalle High School and Ivy Tech College, and was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He was in the process of opening a precious metal and pawn shop in South Bend.

In addition to his parents, Bob and Becky, Ryan is survived by his grandfather, Robert E. Folk of Granger; one uncle, Michael H. Folk of Osceola; three aunts, Linda L. (William Davis) Myers of Vevay, IN, Georgia E. Benson of Mishawaka and Margaret Mary (Paul Marnocha) Jones of Mishawaka; as well as 16 cousins; and his lifelong friend, Angie.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Folk, and Mary and John Huber.

Ryan was proud to have worked on the street department for the City of South Bend. He loved riding motorcycles and competition target shooting from the age of six. He was an expert marksman and made precision ammunition. Ryan was also a black belt in Karate and an avid golfer. He enjoyed fishing and swimming on Pinhook, and cooking out with his special friend, Dan Hooker. He was a true friend to many and will be missed by all.

Funeral services for Ryan will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 3, in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. Greg Crump officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, in the funeral home.
