SOUTH BEND - Mr. Perry Allen Gordon, 49, devoted father, brother, uncle and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2009, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gordon resided on Merrifield Street, Mishawaka, Indiana.

Perry was very courageous, hardworking, well-known and dearly loved by everyone.

On December 17, 1959, in South Bend, Perry was born to the late Robert and Mary (Davis) Maxie.

He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1977. Following graduation Mr. Gordon took vocational trades in welding and maintenance at Ivy Tech College. For 25 years he was employed by the Logan Center.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Cathy Hoover; his daughter, Desiree Gordon, who was his pride and joy; two lovely stepdaughters, Janel Wallace and Melanie (Blake) MaBez; five sisters, Mary Ann Maxie, Roxanne (Onzie) Harris, Tina (Paul) Robinson and Joan DeVeraux, all of South Bend, and Toni (Earnest) Lee of LaPorte, Indiana; nine brothers, Myron (Pat) Maxie, Rick (Deneen) Maxie, Richard Maxie, Robert Maxie, James Davis III and Michael (Audrey) Davis, all of South Bend, Donald (Randi) Maxie of Elkhart, Indiana, Tony Gause of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Erin Gause of Cleveland, Ohio; five aunts, Julia Troutt, Ella Woods, Rosetta Hargro, Beulah Hargro and Ida Thompson; six uncles, Rev. Bennie (Mildred Rose) Hargro of Gary, Indiana, Eddie (Naomi) Hargro of Jackson, Mississippi, Roosevelt (Joyce) Hargro of Gary, Indiana, Richard Maxie, Norman Maxie and Leroy Maxie, all of Chicago, Illinois; 33 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Shawn, Herb Johnson, Jeffery Taylor, Dan Harshmin and Miss Carla; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding Mr. Gordon in death were a sister, Shirley Davis; an aunt, Susie Harris; nine uncles, Steve Harris, Winfield Hargro, William Troutt, Willie Hargro, Roy Woods, Rev. Grady Thompson, Richard Maxie, Leroy Maxie and Norman Maxie; one niece, Debra Scott; one nephew, Tyrone Scott; two great-nieces, Kaleah Hart and Aundrea Davis; and a great-nephew, Daxton Maxie.

Services for Mr. Gordon will be held at noon today, Oct. 12, in Alford's Mortuary, with visitation taking place one hour prior to services in the chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Gordon family. In lieu of flowers, all charitable donations and gifts of love may be sent to Alford's Mortuary.
