Michael Goss

Feb. 8, 1967 - May 22, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Michael Goss, 40, of Southview Lane, South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at 11:53 A.M. in the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan, after a brief illness with his family at his bedside. On February 8, 1967, in Ackerman, Mississippi, Michael was born to Troy and Mattie (Miller) Goss.

Michael was united in matrimony to Shelia Smith, and to that union two sons were born, Michael T. and Keion D. Goss.

At the tender age of three, Michael, along with the rest of the family, moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he attended and graduated from Harrison Elementary School and LaSalle High School. It was at Harrison that Michael was exposed to his first real passion: wrestling! Michael began wrestling at Harrison and continued at LaSalle. However, he was not just a wrestler, he was committed to sport and perfected the skill and earned the title of Regional Champ and the 2nd-place winner at the State level in 1985.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted fiancé ("his everything"), Kim Quinn; two sons, Michael T. and Keion D Goss; his parents, Mattie McKnight and Troy Goss; a twin sister, Michelle Malone, all of South Bend, Indiana; along with two brothers, Dwayne (Claudia) Miller of Tracey, California, and Chris Tripplett of Georgia; a sister, Angela Yates; his "other" son, Kenny McKinney; and his paternal grandmother, Novella Goss, all of South Bend, Indiana; along with a host of family, friends and his church family.

After spending countless days at church as a young child with his mother, Michael made the decision to give his life to Christ at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Dave S. Davis, where he sang in the children's choir. Michael's favorite song was "Ninety-Nine and a Half Won't Do" and he sang lead. What an awesome testimony. Michael lived that testimony in all that he did, even into his adult life. Michael later united with New Hope Full Gospel Church under the pastorage of Bishop Steven Reed, where he was an active and devoted member and sang in the choir. Michael had a way of bringing great joy and love to any room he entered, with the big, beautiful smile and huge, infectious laugh. He left a touch of love on the lives of all who knew him, and he was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, a kind word, or even a piece of meat off the grill.

Michael was employed by St. Joseph Valley Constructional Steel in Elkhart, IN, for 18 years, and his co-workers were his extended family.

Preceding Michael in death were his grandparents, Levelle Miller, J.T. Goss, Dorothy Miller and Virgie Coleman. Funeral services for Mr. Michael Goss will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, in New Hope Full Gospel Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the services for visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary. Messages of condolence may be e-mailed to alfordsmortuarv@comcast.net.
