Graylen Todd Graham

REX, GA - Graylen Todd Graham, 56, of Rex, GA, formerly of South Bend, IN, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Graylen attended Washington High School and graduated with his diploma in 1981. He received a Certificate in Theology Apostolic Studies in 1984 from Apostolic Bible Institute, Inc. Shortly after graduation he became a Sunday school Superintendent. He received his Master's in Education from Indiana University South Bend in 1987. Being an overachiever and educator, he received a double Master's degree in Education with a concentration in Language and Literacy from Vanderbilt University in 2000.

Graylen was an avid writer and was working on his first novel entitled “Memoir of the Life of Winchester Charles Marshal.” He published many articles during his life with Oxford University Press and American Language Review. He also started the first African AmericanNational Forensic League Speech and Debate Team in the state of Indiana. He was also a member of KAPPA ALPHA PSI. As an educator he taught students at LaSalle High School in South Bend and was the Assistant Drama Team Coach and the Debate Team Coach. He also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Atlanta Metropolitan College, English and Reading Teacher at Atlanta Public Schools, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton and Rockdale County Public Schools in Georgia.

Leaving to cherish his memory is his father, Charles Wright of South Bend, IN; mother, Yvonne Graham; one sister, Janine Brooks both of Stone Mountain, GA; four brothers, Reginald Wright of Indianapolis, IN, Prentis (Regina) Wright of South Bend, IN, Gerald Armour Shaffer of Minneapolis, MN, and Darrin (Sylvia) Graham of Conyers, GA, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special friends, Margie Begin and Ed Drummond; and a close cousin, Jennifer O'Neal.

Homegoing Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Life Church located at 5911 York Road, South Bend, IN 46614 with viewing occurring from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Life Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted with ALFORD'S MORTUARY.
