CHRISTOPHER DELL HILL

March 14, 1982 - Feb. 17, 2008
SOUTH BEND - Specialist Christopher Dell Hill, 25, of Fort Hood, Texas, and formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on February 17, 2008, in Scott & White Hospital, Temple, Texas. Christopher was born to Robert Hill and Opal (Archibald) Ayers on March 14, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana, who both preceded him in death.

He graduated from LaSalle High School and enlisted in the Army National Guard on September 11, 2003, as an administrative specialist. He later joined the active Army on September 19, 2005, as a petroleum supply specialist. He attended advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia. After completion of AIT, SPC. Hill was assigned to Echo Company (FSC), 1-227th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1ACB, 1CD, Fort Hood, Texas. While at Fort Hood he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom earning the Army Commendation Medal and contributing to mission success with the distribution of 4.7 millions gallons of fuel supporting aviation operations. SPC. Hill's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

Specialist Christopher D. Hill is survived by his brothers, Marvin (his wife, Latrelle) Ayers of Savannah, Georgia, Anthony Ayers and Shawn (his wife, Shinnell) Lee, both of South Bend, Daryl M. (his wife, Paula) Hill of Hollywood, Florida, and Robin J. Hill of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Michele Hill of Dallas, Texas; 12 nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Specialist Christopher Dell Hill will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Faith Apostolic Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be sent to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Hill family.
