BRENDA JONES

SOUTH BEND - Brenda Jones, 52, of South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013, after an illness. Brenda was born to Rufus and Louise Verse in South Bend, Indiana, on January 16, 1961.

She received her formal education through the South Bend Community School system, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1979.

She met the love of her life, Jimmy Jones, and they married on February 15, 1985.

For 36 years she worked as a phlebotomist and a supervisor at South Bend Medical Foundation. She began volunteering at LeSea Ministries and became an employee several years later until 2010. Brenda accepted Christ at a very early age beginning at Faith Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop Clyde and Audrey L. Harris, where she was introduced to the sign choir. In 2003, Brenda became a member of New Life Fellowship Ministries where she birthed Hands in Motion at New Life Fellowship Ministries. Brenda participated in the ministry training, intercessory prayer team, and taught the adult Sunday school class. Brenda faithfully ministered to the elderly at the Karl King Tower on a weekly basis for prayer and fellowship. Brenda was faithfully committed to spreading the gospel and winning souls to Christ. She never missed an opportunity to contribute to the kingdom of God.

Brenda Jones is survived by her husband, Jimmy Jones; 3 children, Jamia Jones, Brandon Jones and Jordan Jones; one granddaughter, Taylor Banks. She also leaves behind 3 sisters, Lorraine (Murray) Collins, Mary Ann (Booker) Jacobs and Nicola Valerie (Darrin) Chandler; 4 brothers, Willie Davis, Thomas Verse, Zachary Verse and Rufus (Tonya) Verse Jr.; and a special cousin such as a brother, Jimmy (Denise) Boyd Jr. Brenda also had 3 dear friends, Wilner Cusic, Jackie Steen, Connie Brown; and a host of family and friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Louise Verse, and a brother, Achery Verse.

Home-Going Service for Brenda Jones will be held in New Horizon Outreach Ministries, 56165 Mayflower Road, on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visit www.clarkoneal.com to sign her guestbook.
