Cynthia Linda Melczek

MELCZEK Cynthia "Cindy" Linda Melczek, age 57 passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born in South Bend, IN on April 7, 1954 to the late Robert and Patricia (Harrell) Melczek. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in South Bend and St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN.

Cindy was employed at the Defense Supply Center Columbus as an instructor in the Intern Center of the Human Performance Division. She was passionate about not only her work but all aspects of her life. She was a talented musician who especially enjoyed an energetic session on her drums. She was also a very competitive athlete excelling at volleyball and softball. Cindy's love of high performance was also displayed in her interests in owning and driving sports cars (Porsche in particular) and riding motorcycles. She enjoyed traveling with friends to Ireland, and speaking of the Irish, she was an enthusiastic and devoted Notre Dame fan! In the company of friends and family her quiet composure and wry sense of humor could often result in an unexpected outbreak of uninhibited laughter for her and all around her. In quieter moments she composed her own songs, and enjoyed collecting art and decorative plates.

Cindy is survived by her step-father, Jack Linn; Uncle Donny Aranowski; cousins, Lynn Caenepeel, Vicky Pietrucha and Peggy Rychuralski. Also surviving her are life-long friend, Teri Hummel; Godchild, Sarah Hummel; and Godmother, Gloria Cudney as well as many close friends.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Ron Melczek.
