ORLANDO D. SWANSON

Oct. 10, 1955 - Dec. 14, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Orlando, 51, was born to the union of Donald Swanson and Edna Mae (Smith) on October 10, 1956, in South Bend, where he had resided all of his life.

He attended LaSalle High School and graduated in 1976.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking the special dishes that his grandchildren loved.

On February 14, 1991, he married his childhood sweetheart, Fay (Jackson). To this union two children were born, Monica (Andre) Crawford and Christopher Swanson, both of South Bend. He is also survived by two sons, Dion Binion and Jason Garrett, a stepson, Quest Jackson, and by 15 grandchildren. Orlando leaves behind his mother, Edna Mae (Smith) Gray; two sisters, Zena Adams of Fort Worth, TX, and Donzella (Johnny) Williams of Bellevue, MI; seven brothers, Armando Swanson, Elder Hernando (Debra) Swanson, Rev. Clyde (Saundra) Austin, St. Joseph, Glen Brown, Tommy Jones and Alonzo (Adrian) Adams Sr., all of South Bend, and Officer Lance (Jolanda) Adams III of Huntley, IL; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Bertha (Wright) Swanson; maternal grandparents, Justice and Jessilinah Smith; his father, Donald J. Swanson; and his brother, William J. "Bill" Adams.

Services for Orlando Swanson will be held Thursday, Dec. 20th, in the Greater St. John M.B. Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend. Visitation 11 a.m.; funeral services at noon. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral services.
