CHRISTOPHER M. SWIHART

Christopher M. Swihart April 9, 1972 - June 8, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Christopher M. Swihart, 43, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born on April 9, 1972, in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.

Christopher was a graduate of LaSalle High School. He was currently employed at Hoosier Tank in South Bend, IN, where he has worked for the last ten years.

Christopher is survived by his son, Damian Swihart of South Bend, IN; his grandmother, Florence Retek of South Bend, IN; a sister, Paula (Kevin) Collins of Mishawaka, IN; and two nephews, Justin and Dylan Hough, both of Mishawaka, IN.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise L. (Retek) Cousins, and his grandfather, Emery Retek.

Christopher was a member of the M.R. Falcons Club in South Bend, IN. He enjoyed playing basketball with his friends when he was younger; and more recently enjoyed playing euchre, poker, pool, and darts with his buddies. He was a die-hard Michigan Fan and his friends called him "Michigan Chris." Christopher really loved his son, Damian, and enjoyed spending time with him and the rest of his family.

Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 Saint Johns Way, South Bend, IN. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Christopher Swihart Memorial Fund for his son, Damian Swihart, c/o any 1st Source Bank Branch.
