CLEMENT J. "CLEM" URBANSKI

Clement J. "Clem" Urbanski Jan. 27, 1933 - May 10, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Clement J. "Clem" Urbanski, 82, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015, in Memorial Hospital. Clem was born on January 27, 1933, in South Bend, to Harry and Stella (Albrecht) Urbanski, and was a lifelong resident.

He retired in 1990 from the South Bend Community School Corporation, where he had been employed as a teacher. Clem taught at Pierre Navarre, McKinley School and LaSalle High School. He also taught at St. John the Baptist and Holy Family Schools.

Clem had also been the owner of Urbanski Advertising for 50 years.

On September 25, 1954, in St. Casimir Church, he married Arlene M. Toth, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Renae Brewer and Eileen (Bob) Miller, both of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Jerome Urbanski of South Bend, Indiana, and Kenneth Urbanski of Three Rivers, Michigan, five grandchildren, Nicholas Chamberlain, Christina Miller, Julie Miller, Bethany Brewer, and Darren Urbanski; two great-grandchildren, Julian and Theodore Chamberlain; and one brother, Robert (Betty) Urbanski of South Bend, Indiana.

Clem was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Rita) Urbanski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, in St. Casimir Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where members of the American Legion Post #284 will conduct Military Services. A visitation will take place from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.

Clem was a 1955 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he received his Bachelor's Degree and was an Athletic Trainer. He received his Master's Degree from Indiana University. Clem was a member of St. Casimir Parish and Married Men's Club. He was a United States Army veteran who served with the occupation forces in Germany after W.W. II. Clem had been a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., St. Joseph Young Men's Society, M.R. Falcons, Z.B. Falcons, and the former Achievement Forum. He coached baseball and was an avid White Sox fan. Clem was a teacher and mentor for many young children.
