Kenneth "Kenny" J. Smous

December 21, 1965 ~ November 18, 2023 (age 57)

Kenneth John Smous, 57 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, November 18, 2023 at his home from natural causes.  Kenny was born on December 21, 1965 in South Bend to Gary and Sally (Snyder) Smous.  He has remained a lifelong resident.  On July 12, 1986 in South Bend, Kenny and Vicky L. Kinas were united in marriage. 

Along with Vicky, his loving wife of 37 years, Kenny is survived by their two children, Cortney (John) Bella of South Bend and Derrick (Brooke) Smous of South Bend; five grandchildren, Brayden, Presley and Wrigley Smous, and Payton and Kara Bella; mother, Sally Smous of South Bend; and his mother-in-law, Nora Ann Kinas of South Bend.  Kenny is also survived by his sister, Diane (John) VanScoik of Crawfordsville, FL; brother, Jeff Smous of Pittsburgh, PA; and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and their loved ones. Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Gary Smous; and his father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Kinas.

Kenny has been a longtime employee with Robert Bosch, LLC in the Chassis Brakes Division.  He was a graduate of LaSalle High School.  Kenny enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, and working on tractors.  He loved watching his grandkids play sports.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer North Chapel.  Friends may also visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Kenneth J. Smous may be donated to St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, 5117 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN  46614.  Online condolences may be offered to Kenny’s family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
