John T. Ayers

John T. Ayers, 30, of 1707 Elmer. died Monday in Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was a millwright worker for the U.S. Steel Corp. He was born on June a 1950, in Gary, Ind., and lived in South Bend for 17 years after coming from Gary.

On Feb. 6, 1973, in South Bend, he marred Anita Mikel. She survives with father and stepmother, William S. Sr. and Louise Ayers of South Bend: two sisters, Ms. Dorothea Conners of Gary and Ms. Alberta Wells of Chicago, Ill., and two brothers, William S. Jr. of South Bend and Kevin of Gary, Ind.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Clark's Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dave S. Davis, pastor of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ayers was a 1968 graduate of LaSalle High School, and had attended Indiana State University, Terre Haute.
