Mr. LaRay James Carter, 47, of Meadow Lane in South Bend, Indiana departed this life suddenly on November 25, 2023, at Beacon Hospital in Granger Indiana.

LaRay was a loving father, funny, kindhearted, humble, wise and a calm spirited man. LaRay was also a hard worker and held his family in the highest regard. LaRay was the same person at home as he was in public, he never met a person that he wasn't willing to help be it in a deed or words of wisdom. LaRay was a 1995 graduate of LaSalle High School. LaRay started his own transportation business over 20 years ago and even named it after his two older children LMK Transportation LC, was birthed. He not only built it from the ground up, LaRay was the owner, operator and CEO, he also employed others.

LaRay's mother the late Gladys L. Thompson preceded him in death in December 2003.

LaRay left a legacy of survivors to carry on his name and memories, those include but not limited to: His parents Willie James (Dorothy) Carter of South Bend, IN; His Loving Children, Marcel LaRay Carter of Indianapolis, IN; Kayshiana T. Carter of Houston TX; Tavia Renee Carter and Jaylen LaRay Carter both of South Bend IN; 1 grandson, Alijah Carter. His siblings, Tony (Debra) Brannon of Atlanta GA; Curtis (Denise) Anderson of Claymont DE; Tammie Thompson, Denise (Bobby) Harris, Valerie Mallard and Stevie Anderson all of South Bend IN. LaRay also leaves to cherish his memory and keep his legacy alive the Love of his life and significant other Erika Reyna of South Bend IN, along with a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and friends.

Services for Mr. LaRay Carter will be Saturday December 9: 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 24393 Fillmore Road, South Bend, IN with visitation from 10 am till 12 noon, and service immediately following. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary Inc.
