Kevin Alan Childress
Kevin Alan "Kal" Childress passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in Community East Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his devoted family. Kevin was born on January 20, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, to Evelyn Eunice and John Wesley Childress Sr. Kevin graduated from LaSalle High School, where he was a star basketball player. After graduating from high school, Kevin attended college in North Dakota. Thereafter, Kevin enlisted in the United States Army, from which he was Honorably Discharged. Kevin enjoyed reading his Bible, singing and playing basketball.
Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved parents Evelyn Eunice and John Wesley Childress, Sr., and his eldest brother, John Wesley Childress, Jr.
Kevin leaves to forever cherish his memory his five siblings: Ronald (Krystal) Childress, Sr., Sharla Childress Anderson, Jacqueline Childress-Mitchell, Dana Childress-Jones and Bryan (Brenda) Childress, as well as his nieces, Toficia (Carl) Trotter-Neal, Shanice (Paul) Anderson Tchamambe, Kalyn Childress, GeDá (Julian) Jones Herbert, Lauren Mitchell and Jaila Childress, and his nephews, Torlando (Suzette) Childress, Ronald Childress, Jr., Anthony (DeJonnette) Childress, Kei (MaKeisha) Childress, John Trotter and Edwin Perkins, in addition to his special great nephews Wesley Childress, Judah Herbert and Jasper Herbert, along with a host of relatives and friends.
Arrangements: Friday, March 15, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana 46614, with Visitation from 11 AM to 12 Noon, and the Funeral Service at 12 Noon. The interment, with Military Honors, will occur immediately after the service at Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46616.
