Carol E (Strebinger) James
SOUTH BEND - Carol E. James, 55, of South Bend died Tuesday, April 5th at her residence. Carol was born December 22, 1961 in South Bend to Robert C. Strebinger and the late Marilyn M. (Bill) Strebinger and was a lifetime area resident. On July 6, 2003 in South Bend she married Philip E. James who survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Tori Williams of Mishawaka and Tiffiney L. James in South Bend; her son, Kyle R. Williams of Ft. Wayne, IN; her father, Robert C. Strebinger of South Bend; sisters, Annette Heminger (Bob) of South Bend, Marcia McMillen (Ed) of Granger and Sharon Strebinger of South Bend; and brothers, David Strebinger (Patti), Paul Strebinger and Kevin Strebinger (Kay) all of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn M. Strebinger; and brothers, James, Brian, and Mark Strebinger.
Carol was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Church and serving the parish brought her tremendous joy. Carol loved to cook and bake for all who would sit down long enough for her to whip something up. Learning from her own mother, she opened her home to all, acquiring new friends, confidantes, and “children” along the way. Carol always gave and never asked for anything in return. Carol relished being a mother and it was her greatest passion in life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 N. Wilber St. The family will receive friends in the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and welcomes you to share memories from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 in the church.
