Romy R. Rush
January 19, 1950 ~ December 16, 2024 74 Years Old
Rush’s Repair is officially closed as Romy Rush went to his final resting place on Monday December 16, 2024, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.
Romy was born on January 19, 1950, in South Bend to the late Melvin and Dolores (Russell) Rush. He graduated from LaSalle High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On July 11, 1970, Romy married Charleen Ness, sharing 54 years of marriage.
Romy loved racing. He visited over 200 racetracks and proudly served as the “crew chief” for the family, both on and off the track. You could usually find him in the pole barn happily wrenching on something with his cup of coffee. He was an expert waterer of the flowers he proudly planted with Charleen. He loved coaching his sons’ and grandkids’ sports and attended every game possible. You would always find Romy at Charleen’s side at St. John’s Church on Sunday morning.
Romy is survived by his wife, Charleen Rush, his son; Shanon (Susan) Rush, his grandchildren; Jacob Rush and Caden Rush, his sister; Renee Hall-Rush, brothers; Randy Rush and Roger (Kim) Rush. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Romy was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Lucas.
In keeping with his wishes, no immediate services are to be held, but a celebration of life will occur in the spring, at a local racetrack.
