Edward Francis Nugent

Edward Francis Nugent, 86, a longtime resident of South Bend, Ind., died Friday, Jan.16, in Wynscape Healthcare Center, Wheaton, Ill. He was born in Worcester, Mass., March 6, 1917. Mr.Nugent graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, then served in the United States Marine Corps as a major in World War II. He later earned an M.A.from Clark University. After the war years he became an associate professor of English at Purdue University. He was later employed by the American Seating Company in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was a longtime English teacher at LaSalle High School in South Bend until his retirement. He was a member of St.Anthony de Padua parish for a number of years.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan (Ken) Sullivan of Wheaton; and by two grandchildren, Ted and Madeleine Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Doris M. (Dewsbury).
