Stephen Patrick “Loomis” Longley

Stephen Patrick “Loomis” Longley, 51, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 5:45 AM, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, with his beloved wife, Rhonda, by his side.
Steve was born on February 28, 1973, in South Bend, to the late Herbert Van Longley and Carol "Sue" (Henry) Longley. He grew up in South Bend, where his adventurous spirit was evident from a young age. As a child, he would often go through many sets of bike tires each summer, exploring the neighborhood with boundless energy and curiosity and playing loads of baseball games with friends.
On January 24, 2005, Loomis married Rhonda Jacobs in a beautiful ceremony in Jamaica, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their shared love for travel took them to the Caribbean and Mexico, where they made lasting memories and formed lifelong friendships. Whether exploring new destinations or relaxing on familiar beaches, Loomis and Rhonda found joy in their adventures together.
Loomis had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying quiet moments fishing or spending time in nature. He was also an avid fan of Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs baseball. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, when he celebrated with fireworks, family, and friends.
Professionally, Steve thrived in the hands-on aspects of his work. He took pride in using his craftsmanship to transform outdoor spaces, with a sharp attention to detail and a practical skill that made each project come to life.
Loomis is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his brother, Jeremy Longley, his mother-in-law, Karen Clark, his aunt, Ann Newman and a host of extended family & friends. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
A celebration of Loomis’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy, located at 12800 McKinley Hwy (entrance off Coyle Ct), Mishawaka, IN 46545. Family and friends are invited to gather, reflect on his life, and share stories of the man they loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Loomis’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Donations can be sent to 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306, or made online at t2t.org.
