Otis Van Washington

June 10, 1956 ~ January 28, 2025 (age 68)

Otis Van Washington, AKA OT of 1230 Huey Street, South Bend, In, beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was born to the union of Wallace Jr. and Clara Washington June 10, 1956, in South Bend, In. During his younger years he attended and graduated from Linden Grade School. He went on to attend Central High School where he spent most of his time focusing on general studies.

During his adult life, he worked at the South Bend Housing Authority for 10 years in Janitorial Services.  He also enjoyed cleaning. He kept his home, as well as the homes of many relatives immaculate. He was known as the cleaning machine.  Otis loved life, loved to have fun and loved his family. He was the life of the party. When he walked into a room, he would light up the room with the joy that he carried with him. He also enjoyed hanging out with his nephews Corey, Duke and Mark.

He lives to cherish his memory, his sisters Elder Connie Weatherspoon, Geraldine Boyd and Irene Bonds, sister-in-law Ronell Washington, a favorite niece Annette Johnson “Net”, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.  A special niece and caregiver who opened her home to care for him during his time of need, Patty Georgia. A special thank you to Samantha (Manda) and Tammy Keys. A heartfelt thank you to Crystal Scott and Dirtrice Harris.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Perry Hunter, Gwendolyn Keys, Elizabeth, Linda Ann, Edward and Tyree (Puncho) Washington and brother and sisters-in-law Joe Boyd, William Bonds and Andrea Washington.
