James Chegwin Wright, 89, of Cassopolis, MI, passed away August 3, 2021 in South Bend, IN. He was born on June 6, 1932 to the late Leslie and Helen (Chegwin) Wright in South Bend, IN. James married Patricia Joanne (Parker) Wright, she preceded him in death in 2015.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel and was a veteran of the Korean War. He then attended college at Indiana University, Bloomington where he earned his Master's degree in Education. He was an English, Speech and Drama teacher at LaSalle High School in South Bend, IN. James was a member of the National Education Association, the Presbyterian Players Club, South Bend Civic Theatre and was also a 32' Scottish Rite Freemason.
James is survived by his son, James "Kevin" (Diana) Wright; his 2 daughters, Julie D. Wright and Deborah (Stephen Linville) Wright; 3 grandchildren, Curtis James Terry, Trevor and Jill Wright, along with 2 great grandchildren Abigail and Katelyn Terry.
James was preceded in death by his late parents and wife.
A Masonic Service with Military Honors for James will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy Osceola, IN 46561. Friends may visit from 1PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James' memory to Indiana Masonic Home, Studebaker, Shriner's for Children, South Bend Civic Theatre and Masonic Learning Center. Chapel Hill is honored to serve the Wright Family.
